The main directions of the Laboratory work are related to the study of trivial, structural, functional diversity of rare and relic vascular plants, algal flora, brioflora, entomofauna, mycobiota in the territory of Baikal Siberia under natural conditions and under the influence of negative factors. GIS technologies are being developed for the analysis, synthesis and storage of biodiversity data. Another area of the Laboratory work is the study of forest ecosystems in the Baikal region exposed to anthropogenic factors, development of approaches to assessing the level of technogenic pollution of forests, the degree of their disturbance and suppression of protective properties according to a complex of toxicological, physiological and biochemical, morphostructural, and biogeochemical indicators.
