Abstract

The exchange of genetic information between cellular organelles and the nucleus is considered a common phenomenon for all eukaryotes. The mechanism of this interaction still not described. Our studies of mtDNA and its nuclear copy on the example of passerine birds allowed to consider the hypothesis of interaction between n- and mtDNA by common homologous recombination and to establish the source of new variants of mt-haplotypes namely nuclear copies of mtDNA.
